Photographs in research
There are 2 kinds of visuals in this unit. There is research with visual (pictures, etc.) and there is the visual search when consumers are looking for products on the racks. The next unit has more about eye tracking but this activity is focused on using visuals (images) in market research
Find a fashion photo that you find memorable and tells a story. Many advertisements would fall into this category, as well as editorial fashion shoots. Pick one that speaks to you.
Create a document that starts with the photo
Explain why you chose this picture. Did it make you happy, sad, angry, etc.?
Start a new paragraph and tell the story you perceived
Start another paragraph and identify the specific elements in the photo that supported that story.
Clearly, you need multiple paragraphs. That is very important. However, there is no right or wrong to this project but there is good and poor analysis. I want to see a thought process that you might use in choosing photographs for ad campaigns, etc.
Professional formatting and writing are essential. The paper should be single spaced and at least a full page with at least 2/3 of the page being text.
