Write an essay on a specific human rights issue of your choice. It could be an exploration of a topic covered during the semester or an entirely new item. Theproblem should be directly or indirectly related to human rights.
b)Your paper should demonstrate an understanding of human rights ethical concepts and theories in your analysis of the topic. I.E., You may indicate that you argue from a consequentialist, rights, etc.perspective. It will be interesting to learn that your vocabulary on specific issues has changed as you incorporate the common notions in human rights studies such as positive and negative rights, positive and negative peace, etc. into your conversation.
c)The paper should not be merely a collection of information about a subject butshould demonstrate a critical analysis of the topic.I.E., What are the some of the arguments with which you agree or disagree?Why or why not? What conclusions have you drawn from the research? I am not expecting you to produce a scholarly paper, but that you dig more in-d epth thanthe familiar arguments about the problem.
d)More than a survey of the literature, the paper should be organized as an argumentative paper. Thus, it should argue for a position expressed in a clear and explicit thesis statement at the beginning of the article.
e)Use at least three or four sources: scholarly articles, relevant books, and other secondary sources.
f)Length: 1000-1200 words (about 6-8 pages double-spaced)!!!!!!!!!!!!. Please indicate wordcount at the end of the paper.
g)Evaluations will be based on the following: Clarity and quality of the thesisstatement, demonstration of the thesis, use of theories in ethics, engagement withsecondary literature, and your contribution to the topic.
