You may address art’s continued attempt to bridging life and the every day, versus design’s functionality which intrinsically and directly affects and informs daily life. You may approach ideas about the future of design in view of the ever expanding interdisciplinary nature of both art and design, as well as their continued interdependence. You may address a feminist and postcolonial critique of design. Is the hierarchical position given to art versus design
an artificial one, an unfair one? What are the differentiating characteristics of art and design? You may focus on works by Maurizio Cattelan, Donald Judd, Dan Graham, Claes Oldenburg, Liam Gillick, Jorge Pardo, Barbara Kruger, the Unisex Project, Anthony Dunne & Fiona Raby, and Hella Jongerius.
