Reflection Activity for the Veterans History Project – Part 2 (Using DEAL Model)
After completing the Interview you will write a reflection paper. Paper must be 3 – 4 pages in length not counting a cover sheet. Paper must be typed, double-spaced. Due date is listed in the tentative reading schedule attached to the syllabus. You will consider and include the following:
Describe the experience.

How did you prepare for the interview?
When and where did it take place?
Set the scene. Was anyone else present? Who?
What did you do?

Examine the Experience:

How did your experience help you learn or understand the course material?
How did your service-learning experience connect with what you’re learning in class?
What academic skills did you use/ should you have used?

Articulate Learning:

What is the value of your project?
What did you learn about yourself? (Your wants, needs, goals, skills and values.)
What did you learn about the world beyond the classroom? How does it connect to the future?

Rubric: Total Points = 150
Veterans History Project Interview & Packet (Part 1) = 80

Interview = 30 points
Cover Letter = 5 points
Veteran’s Information sheet = 10 points
Veteran’s release form = 10 points
Interviewer’s release form = 10 points
Audio Visual Log = 10
Organization = 5

Reflection Paper (Part 2) = 70 points

Describe section = 15
Experience Section = 25
Articulate Section = 20
Length = 5
Grammar = 5
