Find one or several essays from the readings copied from Best American Essays that may pertain to your topic, and choose one that you will use in your research essay.
2. Consult outside sources and cite the sources used in the essay in a Works Cited
page, which will include the work you chose from the above topics and authors,
one or more works from Best American Essays, and minimally three other sources, which shall necessarily include a book, a periodical article and one other types of sources of your choice.
The essay will be a minimum of five pages. Use 1” to 1 ½” margins and 12 pt. font and double space. It must be typed and it must contain a title
In all of these questions/ideas for argument, import your own research (3 or 4 sources) as well as one of the readings uploaded or in your textbook.
Your claim must be specific and narrow, something that can be argued in a five page paper. Narrow your claim by location and time. Think of a specific case, law, policy, or instance to anchor your claim, such as the following: The Stand Your Ground gun law in Florida is the main reason Trayvon Martin never received justice or California’s gun control law unfairly singles out medical marijuana users in violation of the Equal Protection clause of the U.S. Constitution. Your claim must be very specific and narrow, not broad, like gun control doesn’t work (Where? Which laws? federal or state? When–throughout all time?).
