Essay (2400 words – you can use appendices but no 10% leeway allowed)
Choose your essay topic from one of the three main topics: 1) organisational change, 2) organisational culture (or culture change), 3) leadership. Critically review academic sources on your chosen topic and identify relevant theories, concepts and findings from available academic research.
Supplement your review of the main chosen topic with a review of academic sources on another topic covered in the module (so power, identity, perception, motivation & misbehaviour). If you wish, you can also choose one of the two remaining main topics as your supplementary topic, e.g. leadership (main topic) with culture change (supplementary topic).
Analyse a company of your choice (so your case study company) using the relevant theories, concepts and findings from your review of the academic research. Give relevant, well supported, practical and future-oriented recommendations for the chosen company.
The assignment should consist of two parts:
Part 1. Review of relevant academic sources (40% of the mark)
In the section you need to:
Critically review, in essay format, relevant academic sources on the selected main and supplementary topics.
Signpost how these interrelate, so that it is clear why you chose these two topics in relation to each other.
Focus on sources which will help you analyse your chosen case study company.
Evaluate these sources, using material from the module. Note, each week’s lecture theme will provide material that relates to your chosen two topics. Thus, you should think carefully about the complexities such practices create
