Please note: the SPPM is a complex process. In the future part of this analysis (Part II), a shortened version may be undertaken to reduce the complexity of the assignment. However, the SPPM, as a rigorous process, should include all steps.

I. Historical Analysis  (T (-10) -> T(0) Please update the case information to the present day, T0.

Reference all material in the Historical Analysis or note as an assumption (A).

A. Business(es) In

Identification of businesses the organization is involved. Total sales and net income are noted first.  Next, list the % of sales and net income for each business division. “Pie charts” are most effective in presenting this step. Identify the NAICS code for each industry.

B. Goal Clarification  (see Problem #3a-c, (of this syllabus))

The essential character of the organization is established in an historical perspective. Values and priorities of the owners and stakeholders define the culture of the organization that reflect goals. Goals tend to be open ended without specific targets. Review recent and past annual reports. Goals focus on the history and future of the company.

C. Strategies and Tactics fulfilling the Goals (see Problems #4, 5, & 6,)

A review of the Dow Jones News Retrieval Service, the Business Periodic Index (BPI), as well as other on-line and printed sources, will provide specific strategies and tactics that the organization has undertaken to fulfill goals.  Be specific by including specific dates and quantitative measures. Your review will include a ten year history of the company’s past actions.
