This paper is to be a synthesis about health promotion practice in Canada as it applies to a specific target group. Students are to choose a specific target group for health promotion practice in Canada. Students will research and discuss contemporary health promotion practice with this group on the chosen health issue (for example, health promotion efforts regarding HIV/AIDS with PHAs), discussing and critiquing practice in relation to health promotion theory. It is recommended that students integrate some discussion from the lens of gender transformative health promotion, Indigenous perspectives or knowledges as they relate to Health Promotion, and/or perspectives that might be associated with the consumer/survivor rights movements. Students will also provide relevant current statistics and spend some time discussion the health context of this particular group – why health promotion is necessary for this group/behaviour/health issue, why it is effective, what change is being supported. A minimum of 8 scholarly/credible sources should be used to ground your work.
