This should be written in the style of a consultancy report.
For part 1 make reference to a PESTLE analysis for one section and use a SWOT analysis to answer the other section.
For part 2 focus on competitive advantage and strategic sweet-spot.
For part 3 focus on the Pillars of Change.
Part 4 is up to your own discretion.
KBC: Issues on Turnaround and Transformation
Write a report on the KBC case (see assignment folder) addressing the key issues in the case: Against a background of global turmoil in the banking industry and local mistrust and lack of confidence, Johan knew that he had to act decisively. But do what exactly? Where should he start? These were questions that preoccupied Johan as he assumed his new roles as MD Belgium and member of the Group ExCo in early 2009. Address the following questions:
1. What needs to be done:
a. What are the problems that need to be solved?
b. How does Johan prioritise among the many things that need to be done?
2. How can Johan win support and trust of a demoralised organisation?
a. How can he sell a turnaround strategy?
3. How does he create the appropriate organisational environment that would support the chosen strategy?
4. How does he manage upwards, he Is not only MD of the Belgium unit, but also a member of the Group ExCos.
